A. INSTALLATION - top

Download the theme on your download page in themeforest. Once the file is downloaded unzip the file and you will see 3 folders inside Confidence Package folder:

  1. Theme Files - The theme files folder.
  2. Licensing - License for the theme.
  3. Documentations - Documentation file for theme.

1. Upload via Wordpress - top

  1. Go to your WordPress dashboard.
  2. Go to AppearanceThemesInstall ThemesUpload.
  3. Locate the confidence.zip inside the Theme Files folder. Click Install now.

2. Upload via FTP - top

  1. You need to use an FTP client such as FileZilla. To set up your FTP client to connect to your website see: http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_FileZilla
  2. Copy the confidence folder inside the Theme Files folder to your WordPress themes directory ../wp-content/themes/
  3. Go to AppearanceThemes, and find Confidence in the available themes list then click activate.

B. GETTING STARTED - top

1. Theme Options - top

Once after the theme has been installed you will automaticaly redirected to the theme options page and you will see a new sub menu under Appearance tab called Confidence Options. There you will see a list of options that are wrapped with a tabs, each option has a description so you will not be confused in using it. See the screenshot below.

This theme also comes with a sidebar manager that allows you to create unlimited number of sidebar for you to use on every post and page. See the screenshot below.

How to create a new sidebar?

Enter your sidebar name in the "Add new sidebar" text input then click the blue button. Note: the sidebar name must be unique. Your new sidebar name will be added into Active Sidebar box on the left, it's mean your sidebar is active and ready to use, then click Save Button.

How to use the deactivate sidebar?

To deactivate sidebar just drag your sidebar from active sidebar area and drop it to inactive sidebar area. Save your changes

How to use the delete sidebar?

Press the "X" button, and save the changes

How to use the sidebars?

To add a widget in a new sidebar, go to AppearanceWidgets. Drag and drop the widgets into your new dynamic sidebar.
When you create a new post/page you should see the sidebar option metabox on the upper right of post/page editor. Select the preferred sidebar or ignore it to make post/page use default sidebar.

3. Custom Widgets - top

Confidence comes with 11 custom widget is very useful for you. To use them please go to AppearanceWidgets, drag the widget and drop it into the dynamic sidebar. Here is a little description of each widget above.

  1. Button Ads: Use this widget to display your button (125x125) advertisements image.
  2. Custom Recent Posts: Use this widget to display your recent posts with thumbnail.
  3. Facebook Likebox: Use this widget to display facebook fans.
  4. Flickr: Use this widget to display your flickr photos.
  5. Medium Rectangle: Use this widget to display your medium rectangle (300x125) advertisements image.
  6. Popular Posts: Use this widget to display list of your most commented posts.
  7. Recent Audio: Use this widget to display your recent added audio.
  8. Recent from Category: Use this widget to display your posts bases from category.
  9. Recent Tweets: Use this widget to display your recent tweets.
  10. Recent Video: Use this widget to display your recent added video.
  11. Social Counter: Use this widget to display your social followers.

4. Shortcodes - top

Confidence has shortcodes that has been integrated with the post/page editor so allows you to put some nice elements into your post without having to write the markup code yourself. To add a shortcode into your post press the "<>" button and you will see a list of available shortcodes as shown in the picture below.
Some shortcodes have a preview screen which allows you to see what you created before loading them. Some also have clone button which lets you create multiple elements at once.


B. BASIC SETUP - top

1. Import Dummy Data - top

If you install Confidence on a fresh WordPress installation you need to import the dummy data that has been included in the Theme Files folder. Follow these steps to import the dummy data.

  1. From your Dashboard go to ToolsImport
  2. Install the WordPress importer to import posts, pages, comments, custom fields, categories, and tags from a dummy file.
  3. After the importer has been installed, you will redirected to importer page.
  4. Hit the "Choose a file" and locate the dummy-data.xml inside the Theme Files folder then hit "Upload file and import" wait until importing proccess is complete.
  5. If an error occurs after dummy data imported check your audio and video posts it's usually the metaboxes are unfilled.

By default the title of your site will be displayed in text format. You can replace it with an image or logo by uploading it to your server directory via custom logo uploader. This option is located in AppearanceConfidence OptionsGeneral Options, see the image.

Your logo should be sized 230x60, if the size of your logo larger or smaller than 230x60 then you have to do some modifications on the CSS to make it look perfect. If you already have a logo that has been uploaded, please enter your logo url in the text input. To perform the upload, hit the upload button and you will see a media uploader popup screen then locate the logo file wait until uploading proccess is complete, press "Uset this image" button and save your changes.

3. Choose a Layout - top

Still in General Options tab, choose your prefered layout in the general layout options. See the picture below:

C. ADVANCED SETUP - top

1. Setting up the Slider - top

  1. In the Confidence Options page, click the "Slider Settings" tab.
  2. Check the "Enable Slider" option to activate the slider.
  3. Choose a tag for your slider query, to display all posts ignore this option.
  4. Determine the number of posts.
  5. Determine the posts orderby, to make it display the popular posts please choose order by comments.
  6. Determine the posts order. Descending or Ascending.
  7. Check the "Enable Slide Content" to display the slide caption.
  8. Specify the number of words that will be in caption.
  9. Choose the slide animations. Fade or Slide.
  10. Specify the slide interva in milisecond.
  11. Save all changes.

2. Setting up the Newsticker - top

  1. In the Confidence Options page, click the "Newsticker" tab.
  2. Check the "Enable Newsticker" option to activate the newsticker.
  3. Choose a category for your newsticker query, to display all posts ignore this option.
  4. Determine the number of posts.
  5. Determine the posts orderby, to make it display the popular posts please choose order by comments.
  6. Determine the posts order. Descending or Ascending.
  7. Save all changes.

3. Customize The Theme - top

There are several ways to customize the theme, the most commonly used is editing directly on the main CSS file. However, due to compatibility reasons for next theme updates this way is not recommended by me. To avoid that I give you some easy ways to customize the theme.

Directly editing in the editor-style.css
This file is not the main stylesheet file, you allowed to put your custom css code in this file. The editor-style.css is located in main folder same location with style.css.

Custom CSS & Personalisation in the Theme Option page
This ways is the easiest and fastest also very recommended ways. You just need go to the Confidence OptionsPersonalisation. See the pictures below
You can also make customization in the "Custom CSS" option in the General Options tab. See the picture below,


D. WRITING - top

1. Create a Post - top

Basically write an article/post with Confidence is same as you usually make the article/post, give a title, write the content, add a categories and tags and set a featured image. However, since this theme supports 3 post formats first thing you should do is determine the format for the post.

a. Standard Post Format
To create an article/post with the standard format, do it like you normally create a post. If you are new with Wordpress see http://codex.wordpress.org/Posts to learn how to create a post. But before you hit the publish button you need to set a few informations in the custom metabox as seen in the picture below:

b. Image Post Format
To create an article/post with image format also same as create a standard post format, does not require other information of course you should not miss to give a featured image.

c. Audio Post Format
Audio post format is require the audio file and several information, see the pictures below:

d. Video Post Format
Add informations about your video in the metabox. see the pictures below:

2. Create a Page - top

Create a page is also basically same as usually you make a page. If you are new to WordPress see http://codex.wordpress.org/Pages, you also need to determine the page layout in the page metabox as seen in the picture below:
